Because of the late snow and busy schedules, we hadn't been skiing yet... and it's MARCH!
It dumped up there this week, and Sunday looked warm, dry and sunny, so we packed up and headed to Trillium Lake after church.
It's the first outing of the season, and we've been working hard at training for upcoming races, so we decided to keep it fairly casual. We worked hard but weren't dying. A nice, comfortable pace.
The initial downhill was a bit sketchy because we didn't yet have our snow legs. Plus, the tracks were narrow, making it hard to snowplow. And, there were a ton of people scattered across the road.
We decided to loop counterclockwise, taking the first right at the bottom of the hill. The route was hillier than we both remembered, but the gentle rollers kept it interesting.
We arrived at the lake and rested with dozens of other skiers and snowshoers enjoying the incredibly warm, calm weather. What a view!
Pictures all around, of course!
The weather was perfect and the snow was great. It certainly wasn't a trip to get away from the crowds, but it was a wonderful afternoon in the snow.
Can't wait to get back up there! Anybody want to go??
:)
Gorgeous! Those sunny weekend days have been sparse so far this year.
