Weekly Wednesday: school supplies

We did an abbreviated Weekly Wednesday with our annual trip to Bi-Mart for school supplies.
We (over)filled three carts of supplies to donate to the school district to help kids right here in Tigard.

A woman asked Eryn what we were up to (people often ask - we look a little strange with all that stuff!), and Eryn explained that we were buying school supplies to donate. The woman thought it was wonderful and pulled $6 from her purse and gave it to Eryn to buy more stuff! VERY COOL!

A great way to wrap up our summer adventures :)

Oh yes!

It's coming :)

No. 29

Grabbed the next book off the shelf in the THS library: Behind the Curtain, by Peter Abrahams.

It's a great mystery solved by a 13-year-old girl. I really liked it and am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I'd definitely recommend is to my students :)

Hmm

:)

Streak

The streak continues!

I went for another morning run today to beat the heat - just as the sun was painting the sky.
3.2 miles in 30:00 - a 9:22 average:
Best get showered so I can go to work :)

Bridge Pedal 2012!

I say it every year, and I mean it. Bridge Pedal is one of my favorite days of the whole year!

Bikes take over Portland, with access to freeways, roadways and bridges. Cars wait while we pedal around town.

I brought my new camera as we did the 26-mile, 8-bridge ride and was able to take pictures as I rode! FUN :) (and lucky you!!)

It was Dad, Eryn, Brad and me this year.
First up: Hawthorne:
Ross Island:
 Marquam:
 Burnside:
Broadway:
Steel:
St. Johns:
Time for a rest stop (that means free food!!)
Then another stop - this one with cookies!
Fremont:
Interstate 405:
All done!
The expo was at JELD-WEN Park, home of the Portland Timbers. We got to go on the field! We would have hung out more, but it was getting HOT!
YAY! Can't wait for next year :)

Muggy morning miles

Set the alarm early again this morning to get in some miles before the temps climb to near 100 degrees.
It was cloudy and muggy as I did 3.02 miles in 27:03 - an 8:57 average.
I'm enjoying the short morning workouts, with friendly runners who smile and wave as they pass. Oh, and far fewer cars on the road!

:)
