Pumpkin time in CE2!

Aside from COVID years, I think I've carved pumpkins every fall with my CE2 family.

This year, a strange calendar left little time for the holiday tradition. And by the time Friday afternoon came along, I thought our gourds would remain sadly intake.

But... someone said, "Are we going to carve pumpkins?!?" And instead of running out the door at release time on a Friday afternoon, they stayed and got to work!

I'm so glad we kept the Halloween tradition alive!

Year of Hiking 2022: 52

Marathoning and recovery (along with my first cold in THREE years!) left little time for finding new trails in October.

But we did head out early on a Sunday to hike the Larch Mountain loop. We chose a less-popular route and avoided crowds - my favorite!

We could see the Nakia Creek Fire burning across the river:
Smoke shrouded Wy'East:

This was the super-windy day that fanned the Nakia Creek Fire. In the time it took us to hike down from the top, the fire blew up, and the smoke plume suddenly looked apocalyptic:
This was my 52nd trail of the year! Hopefully I can add a bunch more before the end of the year :)

Year of Hiking 2022: 50 - 51

Peak marathon training - and the start of school - meant I didn't get out to new trails much in September.

But I really wanted to observe the Autumnal Equinox on Sept. 22, so I took a quick trip to Wilsonville for a short walk in the woods.

No. 50 - Graham Oaks Nature Park, Sept. 22:

6:03 pm - Welcome Fall:

And with no mega-long run on the calendar for taper week, Brad and I went on a little adventure.
