No. 6

It's official: I'm out of Sue Grafton books.

Thursday I finished "T" for Trespass.
It was the first Grafton in which we followed the story of the hero and the villain at the same time. All her other books are written as first-person memoirs, but Trespass also includes the parallel story of the bad guy as they pursue each other. Interesting. I liked it a lot.

I've already read "U", and the one, "V" is just now out in hardback. So I guess I'll just have to read another author while I wait :)

Pre-race shakeout

With the Heart Breaker race early tomorrow, Brad and I have been tapering all week to give our legs a rest before we both attempt PRs (Brad's doing the half and I'm doing the 10K)

We're headed to the expo to pick up our bibs but first wanted to get in a little pre-race shakeout to loosen up and get some blood flowing. We did an easy 2 miles, keeping it comfortable on the legs and the lungs.
It felt good, and I think I'm ready :)

Check out my summit page

When I realized last summer that I had stood on the summit of 10 different peaks, I decided I needed to compile the pictures and links so I can keep track.

I have a couple more climbs planned for this summer, so hopefully the list will keep growing and growing :)

Check out my climb page!!

Taper Thursday: facials and pedis

While Thursday has become my day to do speedwork, this week's tempo turned into a taper.

Last week I blew out my muscles pretty good with two tough spin classes and a 5K PR. I had to dig deep on my long weekend run, a 9 miler.

I'm hoping to PR at Sunday's Heart Breaker 10K, and that means I need fresh legs.

My friend Connie put us through two hard spin classes again this week (She thinks she has to keep making it tougher since we're all getting in better shape. Great!) So no speedwork for me.
Instead, I did some chores around the house, watched TV in front of a nice fire and took two calls from surveyors - one on state and national politics and one from the Oregon Department of Transportation .

And had a spa night with Brad!

He got it in his head that his pores were enlarging. So he researched and bought a face mask (he let me use some, too):
Then we had pedis.
Santa brought him orange for Christmas:
That's not too weird, right?

No-TV Tuesday: Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day was low key with the traditional dinner and a movie.

Qdoba was having a buy-one-get-one special if you smooched at the register. I guess we could manage that... since it's Valentine's Day.

YAY... free food!!Despite temps near 40 degrees, we wanted some froyo to share. Fudge brownie, cupcake batter and pineapple!
Then it was across the street to Bridgeport for "This Means War", the new Reese Witherspoon movie. It was a good romantic comedy but also had lots of spy action.
A simple evening out with my guy. Perfect :)
