Sunday Parkways with the fam

My crazy weekend of girls' night, The Color Run and hitting my 508-mile running goal also included a family bike ride in Portland.
Dad, Steve and Donna joined us for some pedaling in east Portland for the last Sunday Parkways of the year. Donna got try out her new-to-her bike!
There was a beautiful owl at the Johnson Creek restoration exhibit along the Springwater Corridor:
And fishy hats!!
We all shared a giant apple fritter from Voodoo Doughnut:
Steve scored a shiny new helmet:
And a good time was had by all :)
These events are so casual and so fun! I hope they continue the tradition next summer and that we can attend many of the monthly rides :) JOIN US!

Pacing Mr. Bradley

Is that like Driving Miss Daisy?? Yes - very similar :)

I needed to run today. Brad needed to run today.

With his big race coming up this weekend, it's important that his legs are rested and feeling good. SOOO... I offered to pace him so that he wouldn't go too fast. He tends to do that.
He met me at THS, and we did a loop down into Tualatin Park and back. 3.60 miles at a 9:25 average - including the big hill coming out of Cook Park.
He says his legs feel good! Mission accomplished :)

Girls' night!

My go-go-go weekend started Friday with Girls' Night!

I used to see my girl friends all the time - like several times a week! But with most of them having babies... and now more babies, it's really hard to get everyone together. We put this one on the calendar way in advance in hopes of getting some of us there. It worked!

We started with some dinner at Olive Garden. Laura, Theresa and Sarah:
Ursa and Eryn:
Luann had to work late and joined us at the end of dinner.

Moi:
They almost all went with never-ending pasta. I had minestrone and shrimp mezzaluna. YUM!
Then it was time for some dessert and pedicures at my house.
We had so many colors! And since no one thought to bring party pants, I got out my bin full and we all picked some to wear for the evening :)
Eryn left before the photo finish:
Pretty :)
Brad was sequestered in the other room but painted his toes, too!
So glad we made it work this time :)

Color Run 2012

Months ago, Eryn spotted The Color Run online and convinced me to join her for this messy race.

The 5K was at Portland International Raceway. We all wore white, and at four points along the course, volunteers tossed colored powdered on us. It was quite an experience!

All clean and ready to go!
Lynn was our only friend brave enough to join us. She is awesome!
Time to line up:
While he waited, Brad found these kiddos going nuts with an "empty" barrel of yellow powder!
Coming through the yellow station:
The home stretch:
We were each given a packet of color and told to save it for the finish. Every 15 minutes or so, the DJ started a little dance party and then we all threw our powder. It was really cool!

We did it several times for maximum color!
As usual, Mom and Dad were our trusty support crew. But they did not want to get close to that mess :)
Volunteers armed with leaf blowers helped get off the excess powder before we headed to our cars:
Then Mom and Dad treated us to breakfast/lunch at nearby Cup and Saucer:
Good stuff!
So much fun! And I would definitely do it again - with even more friends!!! :)

Run and then pig out!

I just registered for the West Linn Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Who's with me?? :)

Happy October!

(Thanks to Donna for this awesome quilt square!)
