Wheezy morning run

It never gets old seeing the sunrise as I leave for my morning run. This view is from my front porch:
I had the beginnings of a cold a week ago. It never turned into anything, but Saturday morning I woke with laryngitis. My colds often settle there, so I guess my body was fighting it all along. I feel fine, but Sunday, I could hardly talk at all. Today I sound husky ;)

Brad got up early with me to go for a run. My legs felt good, but my breathing was labored and wheezy. It's obvious that I was breathing through the inflamed larynx!
We went into the park again. I love having a male escort!

We managed 5.11 miles before I had to jump in the shower and rush to work. I almost made it on time.
Happy Monday :)

I guess I'm still on the list

I just received my second exclusive invite to the National Hunting Gear Field Test Panel!!
I didn't respond last time, so I guess they decided to try again.
They heard I'm a serious hunter:
How did I get on this list?? :)

Birthday 5.5

Today is graduation - my favorite day of the whole year. This year, it's also my birthday! I'm OK sharing my big day :)

But knowing that I would be crazy-busy all day with grad stuff, I decided I had to treat myself this morning to a run. Luckily, my honey was willing to get up early to go with me.

Sunny and HOT this morning, even at 6 a.m.
We headed to Cook Park to enjoy the nearly empty trails. Saw a huge heron chilling down on the river. Beautiful morning!
We did 5.5 miles before it was time to clean up and head to school for the long, awesome day of graduating seniors.
Happy birthday to me :)

Date night

Tuesday's date night was cancelled by this unexpected event:
We spent our date time filling Brad's empty gas tank. Oops.

Fortunately, we had one other open night this week, so we went out Wednesday instead.

First stop: Qdoba with a birthday buy-one-get-one coupon!
Then we split a GF red velvet treat from Sweetest Thing Cupcakes. YUM!
Then a movie - Now You See Me.
I thought it was a good heist movie - kept me guessing 'til the end.

A great evening :)

Happy Running Day!

It's National Running Day!!!

My alarm went off at 4:50 a.m. so I could celebrate with a short, easy run. At 6 a.m. when I hit the road, it was already sunny and HOT!
I wore my Eugene Marathon shirt ;)

No. 25

No. 25!

Fantasy in Death, by J.D. Robb, is a murder mystery set in the year 2060. The victim is a gaming guru killed while testing his newest creation. I liked that the killer wasn't revealed until the end, so we were all trying to figure it out together.

Perfect morning for a run

I had a terrific run this morning!

It was cool and mostly cloudy when I set out about 8 a.m. for 10 miles. I tried a couple new things to help me finish strong. And they worked!
The weather was perfect and felt great when it started to rain. Fortunately it didn't last long and wasn't the torrential downpours we've seen in the past couple weeks!

I felt so good that I decided to bump up my mileage from 10 to 13. And I had so much left in my tank that I turned on the turbo for the last 3.5 miles and really dropped my pace.
I finished 13.07 miles at a 10:38 average. And I had near-perfect negative splits!

Feels so good to have a strong run :)
