I know you've all been on the edge of your seats waiting for the Farm Day photos. Unfortunately, we're switching Internet providers, and the old service was shut off before the new one was ready... so we've been without our precious home Internet connection since Thursday night! So sad.
But now I can post a few pictures from our adventure. Hopefully I'll get more pics soon.
When the entire CE2 class arrived Friday morning, Michael already had a fire blazing in the fire pit. We gathered around and heard why he likes to farm and live on 14 acres in the country.
Then we took a tour, seeing different things around the property, including the big surprise:
The black-and-white calf was just two days old! These babies were a big hit.
Then we broke up into smaller groups and did some projects around the farm, including weeding around and transplanting raspberries, stacking firewood, clearing brush (and lighting off the burn pile!), pruning grapes and fruit trees and clearing blackberries from the stream bed.
We worked up a big appetite, so it was soon time for roasting hot dogs around that fire. It got a little drizzly, but we didn't care.
I'm glad we threw in the football and Frisbee.
After lunch we drove the golf cart, played with the chickens (Angelica cleaned out the coop!), chased Gracie and pet the calves. Then, before we knew it, it was time to pack up, board the bus and head back to suburbia.
In my mind, Farm Day was a huge success. We worked together as a team, had some new experiences, spent the day outdoors, had a lot of fun and hopefully made some lasting memories. I hope we can do it again in the future!
:)
I pictured myself sitting in one of those vacant chairs. =)
