Let's take a step back

The fam flew to Oakland Friday night and then crashed at our hotel in Belmont, about 25 miles south of San Francisco.

First order of business Saturday was picking up our bibs at the race expo on Pier 48, next to AT&T Park.
It was a tiny expo with very few vendors - a little disappointing. But we did get some free Chobani yogurt and popsicles, along with our race shirts and Matt Cain bobbleheads!
Looking across McCovey Cove at the home of the Giants:
The Bay Bridge:
Dad, a life-long Giants fan, was having a blast!
Next we drove the course and spotted the Nestle Quik bunny. Random.

Lunch time. We argued a lot, vetoing each others restaurant options. We finally all agreed on Paul's Diner, The Ultimate Coffee Shop in San Mateo.
So hungry that I forgot to take pictures of our American diner food, with a twist of Greek or something. American diner by Greek immigrants. Classic!

We returned to the hotel for some rest, relaxation and race prep.
I hit the hotel gym for a 2-mile run/walk shakeout. King of Queens right on the treadmill!
Pre-pinning the bib:
Orange and black toenails all around:
Swapping out the laces:
We tried to go to nearby Elephant Bar for dinner but the wait was really long. So we went next door to El Torito. Mexican food wasn't the ideal pre-race fuel, but it's what we had.

Brad ordered the three-course special with tortilla soup (he said it was the best he's ever eaten!), pork fajitas and fried ice cream:
Shrimp fajitas for me and Eryn. Spinach enchiladas for Mom:
Combo plate for Dad:
We kept telling Brad he was eating too much, but he said it was too good to stop. The fried ice cream was great (I had a couple bites, too)
After prepping and fueling, it was time to hit the hay :)
