Entry to September's Oregon Half Marathon included a free, no-frills 10K warm-up race Saturday at Cook Park.
It started at 8 a.m. at the butterfly garden. Already sunny but not too hot. It was a very small field:
I haven't raced for speed in a long time, and I didn't have a game plan. I pushed at the beginning and decided I couldn't maintain for the whole 10K. So I decided to race the first 5K, take a short walk break, then slow down a bit on the second 5K.
I ended up finishing in 58:12, a 9:21 average. Not too shabby :)
It felt good to get out and move!
Bonus bloggin':
Part of the reason I couldn't hold my pace was that I was tired from running Friday morning and shredding Friday night. Tired legs :)
