I want to say something profound about the Boston situation. But I'm really at a loss for words, especially eloquence.
I tuned in before 6:30 a.m. yesterday to watch online as the elite women kicked off the historic race. Then I tuned in as soon as I got to work and was so proud to see Portlanders Shalane Flanagan and Kara Goucher finish in the top 6. I love watching Boston.
I like running. I love racing. It's one of my very favorite hobbies. A blogger I regularly read equated this attack to being robbed:
As someone who holds running so dearly in my heart, I feel as though someone has walked in to my home and robbed me. They have taken away that feeling of security you have in your home and the pure joy of a special moment. Watching the news yesterday made my heart break as I wept for everyone there and at home.
I agree. This is personal to me, deeply touching my community. One of my besties texted last night from across the country just to say she was glad I was safe. All runners are impacted.
But I will keep running. The terrorists will not get me down. I will keep looking for the joy and satisfaction in racing.
And today I wear a race shirt in support of the victims and runners, spectators and race workers everywhere.

I'm still fighting tendonitis in my left foot, so midweek runs were short.
