Vacation: rest day/picture day

Brad built a rest day into our backpacking/climbing vacation to Colchuck and Dragontail peaks in Washington. YAY!

Since we didn't know what the weather would be like when we reserved our permits months in advance, it gave us flexibility in our climb schedule. Plus, it gave us an extra day to hang out in
one of the most gorgeous places I've ever been.

We drove north to Leavenworth and camped on Tuesday and then hiked into Colchuck Lake with our overload packs on Wednesday. Thursday, we stayed around camp, resting and taking it all in. Brad went crazy taking pictures: Dragontail Peak (left), Colchuck Glacier (center), Colchuck Peak (right): He even took his camera when he visited the toilet: I spent most of my day reading: Nice view, huh?!?! For dinner, the gourmet cook whipped up some Easy Mac with tuna. SO nasty... and yet SO good! Thursday's weather wasn't great. It sprinkled off and on all day, and the mountain tops were shrouded in wind-whipped clouds. Fortunately, it cleared up beautifully overnight...

Friday's climb was on!!
