Vacation: goat invasion

Our summer vacation excitement (driving north Tuesday, hiking in Wednesday and resting in camp Thursday) didn't end with summiting Colchuck Peak Friday. We woke Saturday to visitors in our campsite:
The mommy and baby spent hours around our camp, eating pee left by us and previous hikers. (They love the salt!)

Brad spent those hours following them around with his camera :)
We eventually packed up and hiked out.
This salty, calorie-laden snack was waiting for us at the car:
When the cheese dip ran out, it was time to head back to town and look for a hotel for the night.

We ended up down the highway in Cashmere, Wash., home of Aplets and Cotlets! They weren't producing any candy on the holiday weekend...
But Brad did buy a value pack in the gift shop!
We took much-needed showers at the Village Inn, a cheap, clean, family-run motel in tiny Cashmere:
We had the large corner, upstairs room with lots of windows.
And the best bathroom linoleum ever:
If we looked east past the alley, we could see the sun setting behind the mountains we'd just climbed:
After cleaning up, it was time to refuel at Shari's in nearby Wenatchee:
I was so thirsty that I sucked down almost this entire lemon-berry slush:
Back at the hotel, I decided that I desperately needed veggies. So we took a late drive to the market and brought back a salad in a bag.
SOOO good!

Our vacation was exhausting but so fun! We had a wonderful time of getting away, earning another peak and exploring a new area.

:)
