Go Mom, go!

With Friday's expo behind us, Saturday was race day for Mom!
Despite injury and chronic pain, Mom trained for months for her 5K Star Tours run. The day finally came, and she was ready to run speed walk through Disneyland and California Adventure parks.

The early start had us walking from the hotel in the dark. Then we spotted the start line for Sunday's half marathon. Of course we had to take pictures!!
Does this look like Southern California or what??
She's official!
We made our way out of the staging area and into the starting area. Time to go!
Then we spotted Sunday's start line again... more pictures!!
Then we waited for Mom to cross between the two parks. Here she comes...
We hung out for a bit in Downtown Disney and waited for the racer to emerge with her finisher medal medallion and free food (we all love the free food!).
Way to go, Mom!!!!!!!!!
Brad and I spent the rest of the day prepping for our half and just hanging out at the hotel. We wanted to make sure not to get overheated. And our legs needed to be fresh. That meant just chilling out for us.

Our plan was to hit nearby Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner and then hit the hay. Apparently, MANY other racers had the same plan because, at 4:30 p.m., the place was packed with folks with buff calves and tech tees. Our server said the kitchen's pasta station was in overdrive.

Brad ordered a HUGE salad and then ate every bite (plus a bunch of mine!). We're pretty sure he has a hollow leg.
I ordered fish tacos and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. SO GOOD!
Time for bed... 2:45 a.m. comes really fast.

Next up: Race Day!!!!

:)
