God of all the nations

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Gregg gave a message at Newberg Friends comparing loving America, patriotism and nationalism. Brad and I both really appreciated him tackling the important, and controversial, topic from the pulpit.

Update: Click HERE to hear the first part of the message. Click HERE to hear the rest.

Just before that sermon, Mauri led us in A Song of Peace, which moved me to tears. It was a powerful reminder that God is the God of ALL nations. And there are people around the world who are just like me.

Click HERE to listen. Here are the lyrics:

This is my song, O God of all the nations,
A song of peace for lands afar and mine.
This is my home, the country where my heart is;
Here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine;
But other hearts in other lands are beating
With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
And sunlight beams on clover-leaf and pine.
But other lands have sunlight too and clover,
And skies are everywhere as blue as mine.
Oh, hear my song, O God of all the nations,
A song of peace for their land and for mine.
