Hubbub

Wednesday marked 20 years for me and Brad... 20 years!!!!!

We met on the day we moved in to George Fox (College) in August 1994 and had our first "date" on Oct. 1. I say "date" because we went to a Winter Hawks game with classmate Shawn Shelley. And my dad was also in attendance, though not sitting with us.

But something clicked and we ended up spending the whole night chatting in the dorm lobby. Oh, then we grabbed my roommate, Katrina, and drove to my parents' house in Tigard to continue the party. And then we all went to church in the morning. It was communion Sunday, which was really funny since I'd brought along two Quakers (who don't take communion)!

Through a series of bad luck (mostly a long week at work for Brad), we didn't get the proper celebration we'd planned this week. So last night we went on a mini date to Salt and Straw to see what all the hubbub is about:
The Portland ice cream shop is famous for local, crazy flavors. There's usually a line down the block, but since it was 7 p.m. on a Thursday, we walked right in to the greeting of several incredibly friendly workers.

Often,  these trendy places are snoody. But they were really nice and told us we could have as many samples as we wanted. Good thing, because all the flavors sounded amazing.
I settled on a split scoop of Pear and Blue Cheese and Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache. SOO good! Brad always prefers fruity flavors and got Honey Balsamic Strawberry with Black Pepper. He said it tasted like strawberry jam!

It was fun to get out of the 'burbs and try something so very "Portland" :)
