I just finished No. 39 - Murder on Gramercy Park by Victoria Thompson:
This THS library castoff was a typical murder mystery but set in turn-of-the-century New York City. I usually avoid period piece books and movies, but I didn't realize that's what it was before I started in. I have kind of a personal rule that I finish any book that I start. So, I kept reading - and it was good!
The main character is a midwife who partners with a police detective to solve crimes. I enjoyed it, especially the look into life during another time. Perhaps I'll lift my period-piece ban :)
