No. 10

Something for Peace is one of the books that I scored last month at Powell's.
It was the memoir of Thomas Waring, a Quaker and a World War II conscientious objector.

Waring shared the story of his decision to not fight and his work at various CO camps and other jobs, including a mental hospital. I was amazed at a couple things: how COs were treated in some places and the hard, physical work he did instead of fighting. It was definitely not a walk in the park or an easy way out.

The short book gave real insight into the lives of COs during that time. A good, quick read :)
